Financial Information
Within the manufacturing software, the term "location" refers to a stocking location. Within the financial software (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger), "location" refers to the financial entity where financial data is reported. The hierarchy for financial information is shown below.
Note that the corporation and company are the same for both financial and manufacturing information. Companies are defined on Reference File category 002. Category 002 also allows you to define locations; these are the financial locations, not stocking locations.

Structure of Financial Information
Locations in the financial hierarchy are at the same level as plants in the manufacturing hierarchy. However, there is no need to equate the two. Costs from the same plant can be assigned to different financial locations. For example, two distribution warehouses within the same plant can be assigned to different financial locations.
For more information about financial reporting, see the General Ledger User Manual.
