Delete a Product Structure
Delete a Product Structure
There are three ways to delete product structures:
· Delete one parent/component relationship at a time using the Deletion maintenance code on the Product Structure Maintenance conversation.
· Delete all components for a parent part at a single time using the Mass Deletion maintenance code on the Product Structure Maintenance conversation.
· Delete individual components of a parent part from the multi-line screen.
Note: Deleting a product structure leaves no permanent record. You may wish to take the structure out of effectivity rather than deleting it. Using effectivity dates and engineering change orders provides greater tracking over changes. To take a component out of effectivity, follow the Change a Product Structure procedure.
1. Perform one of the following sets of steps:
· Delete one parent/component relationship at a time:
a. Use the bill of material inquiries to determine the sequence number of the component you wish to delete.
b. Select the Product Structure Maintenance menu option.
c. Enter the parent number, sequence number, and component part number on the Function Select screen. Specify the maintenance code for deletion.
d. Press ENTER to confirm that you wish to delete the record.
· Delete all components for a parent:
a. Select the Product Structure Maintenance menu option.
b. Enter the parent part number on the Function Select screen. Specify the maintenance code for mass deletion.
c. Press ENTER to confirm that you wish to delete all parent/component records for this parent part.
· Delete components from the multi-line screen.
a. Select the Multi-Line Product Structure Maintenance menu option.
b. Enter the parent part and effectivity date on the Function Select screen.
c. On the workline at the bottom of the screen, type the sequence number and part number for the component to be deleted. Type a D (for delete) in the third field of the workline and press ENTER.
d. Press ENTER to confirm that you wish to delete the component.
2. If necessary, generate new costs in Product Costing or a new production schedule in Master Scheduling and Requirements Planning to take into account the product structure change.
