This screen displays a list of alternative operations that could be used in place of the operation selected on the previous screen.
The upper portion of the screen contains descriptive information about the selected operation. Alternative operations for the selected routing step are listed in the middle portion of the screen. Details about the alternative operations are taken from the routing and include the number of people/machines, any overlap available and whether the alternate is a crew operation.
WORKCENTER NUMBER
Display only. The workcenter where the currently scheduled operation is performed.
ORDER NUMBER
Display only. The manufacturing order for which alternate operations are listed.
ORDER STATUS
Display only. Indicates whether the manufacturing order is planned (P), firm (F), or released (R). Planned orders can still be changed by the system during a run of the master scheduling/requirements planning process. Firm orders have not yet been released to the shop floor, but they cannot be changed by the system.
ORDER QUANTITY
Display only. The total quantity of the part to be produced for this manufacturing order. It is expressed in the part's stockkeeping unit of measure.
PART NUMBER
Display only. The item being produced for this manufacturing order.
OPERATION NUMBER
Display only. The routing step for which alternatives are listed. It was selected on the machine detail or labor detail screen. The operation number is a sequential number assigned to a manufacturing or assembly step on the routing. All of the alternates for this operation share the same operation number.
OPERATION LINE NUMBER
Display only. The unique, two-digit number that identifies the scheduled operation. All alternatives for performing the same routing step share the same operation number. The default method has the operation line number 00. The alternate operations have non-zero line numbers.
OPERATION DESCRIPTION
Display only. Text that helps identify the operation. It is defined on the Routing File.
OPERATION NUMBER ALTERNATE
Display only. The sequential number assigned to a manufacturing or assembly step on the routing. All alternates for the same step have the same operation number.
OPERATION LINE NUMBER ALTERNATE
Display only. The unique, two-digit number that identifies the alternate operation. All alternates for the same routing step share the same operation number. The default operation has the line number of 00. The alternates have non-zero line numbers.
W/C NUMBER ALTERNATE
Display only. The workcenter where the alternate operation is performed.
OPERATION TYPE
Display only. Indicates whether the run time is fixed or whether it varies based on order size. It also indicates whether the operation can be begun before the previous operation has been completed.
Possible values are:
1 - Standard. Neither setup nor run can begin until the previous operation has been completed; run time depends on order quantity.
2 - Master. Used to group several detailed operations.
3 - Variable time; setup overlap only.
4 - Variable time; run time overlap.
5 - Variable time; setup and run time overlap.
6 - Fixed time, no overlap.
7 - Fixed time; setup only overlap.
8 - JIT routing step.
CREW FLAG
Display only. Indicates whether this operation is a crew operation. Values are yes (Y) and no (N).
NUMBER OF PERSONS
Display only. The number of workers required to perform the operation at the workcenter.
NUMBER OF MACHINES
Display only. The amount of equipment required to perform the operation at the workcenter.
OVERLAP
Display only. For variable operations where run-time overlap is allowed (operation types 4 and 5), this field indicates how much of the previous operation must be complete before this operation can be begun. It is expressed either as the fixed quantity to be completed or as a percentage of the order quantity.
SELECT
Optional. Type an X in this field and press F12 to access the Load Summary Inquiry. This option is not available if the Load Detail Inquiry was entered by pressing F12 from the Load Summary Inquiry.
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Return to labor/machine detail list.
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Exit to menu (or return to summary inquiry).
F12 - Enter the Load Summary Inquiry program for the workcenter selected with an 'X', using the same period covered by the current inquiry.
F16 - Enter the Labor Requirements Maintenance program. This allows simulation of the change in schedule dates resulting from the activation of one or more alternate operations (available only if the Shop Floor Control module is installed).
