This screen is displayed from two menu options:
o Effective capacity maintenance
o Effective capacity inquiry
In inquiry mode, all fields are display only. In maintenance mode, you can add or change lines through the maintenance line at the bottom of the screen.
The screen is used to view or modify available capacity per day at a workcenter over time. "Effective" capacity is the practical number of hours available for work, not the theoretical maximum. It should take into account the efficiency and utilization levels at the workcenter.
PLANT
Display only. The plant where the workcenter exists. It was specified on the select screen.
WORKCENTER NUMBER
Display only. The workcenter for which capacity data is being viewed/modified. It was specified on the select screen.
DESCRIPTION
Display only. Text that helps identify this workcenter. It was retrieved from the Workcenter File.
INCLUDE SETUP IN LOAD
Display only. Field value is either Yes (Y) or No (N). This option determines whether the load arising from set-up time will be included in the comparisons with available capacity. It is retrieved from the Workcenter File. If the field is N, the workcenter will only be identified as overloaded if the run time exceeds capacity, without regard to setup requirements.
EFFICIENCY PERCENT
Display only. Retrieved from the Workcenter File. This figure describes the ratio between the expected (or "earned") hours - based on the standard piece rates and quantities completed - and actual hours reported. It can be used as a standard against which to report labor and machine performance in the Shop Floor Control module.
MACHINE/LABOR PACED FLAG
Display only. Retrieved from the Workcenter File. This field determines if the capacity of the workcenter is based on machine hours or labor hours. Values are:
M - Machine Paced
L - Labor Paced
UTILIZATION PERCENT
Display only. The percentage of the total time spent at the workcenter which is anticipated to be "direct." (i.e. charged to specific orders). It can be used as a standard against which to report actual performance in the Shop Floor Control module.
FROM DATE
Display only. The first calendar date on which the specified machine/labor capacity is in effect. To change an effectivity date, use the maintenance line at the bottom of the screen.
LABOR CAPACITY
Display only. The available labor hours per day as of the specified From Date field. This capacity is in effect until the "from" date on the following line. This number is the total number of man-hours available per day, not the number of hours in the day. To change the labor capacity, use the maintenance line on the bottom of the screen. Note that labor capacity can be defined for both machine- and labor-paced workcenters.
MACHINE CAPACITY
Display only. The available total number of machine hours per day as of the specified date on the From Date field. This capacity is in effect until the date specified in the From Date field. Note that machine capacity can be defined for both labor- and machine-paced workcenters. To change machine capacity, use the maintenance line at the bottom of the screen.
MAINTENANCE CODE
Required. Valid codes are:
A - Add a date/capacity line
C - Change an existing date/capacity line
D - Delete a line
M - Mass delete all date/capacity lines for the workcenter. The program will ask for confirmation that this is really the desired action.
MAINTENANCE LINE FROM DATE
Required. The first calendar date on which the specified machine/labor capacity is in effect. The capacity remains in effect until the date specified under the From Date field.
EFFECTIVE CAPACITY LABOR HRS/DAYS
Optional. The available labor hours per day as of the date specified under the From Date field. This capacity is in effect until this date. This number is the total number of man-hours available per day, not the number of hours in the day. Note that labor capacity can be defined for both machine-paced and labor-paced workcenters.
EFFECTIVE CAPACITY MACHINE HRS/ DAYS
Optional. The available total number of machine hours per day as of the specified From Date field. This capacity is in effect until the date on the following line. Note that machine capacity can be defined for both labor- and machine-paced workcenters.
COMMAND KEYS
