Description
CONBON, which stands for Card Order Notice, Bring Out Notice, is Andersen Consulting's software support for the Japanese Kanban production technique. This technique involves using cards to authorize part production and movement. The CONBON module provides a comprehensive set of tools to support a pull production system, one that produces parts only to replenish what has been consumed by using cells. (The traditional push method emphasizes working to a plan or schedule, regardless of changing production priorities downstream.) Beginning with CONBON analysis, which suggests the number of cards needed to control production, the module provides inquiry, reporting, and card-printing capabilities.
The CONBON module supports the following activities:
· Recommending CON cards, which authorize material production; BON cards, which authorize material movement; or single cards, which may be used to authorize production and/or movement.
· Printing CONs, BONs, and single cards on bar-coded media that support production reporting transactions.
· Recording and displaying the current number of CONBON cards in use.
· Reporting by cell/part at the detail or net change level.
In summary, the CONBON module helps establish and control inventory levels, expose production problems, automatically sequence and expedite changes to the plan, and report production accurately and quickly.
Interfaces
CONBON produces cards based on just-in-time demand, which is represented by flow authorizations and flow requirements. The installation of the Just-in-Time module is required before CONBON may be used.
