Comment Types
Reference File category 027 (Comment Types) allows you to define the comments processing performed, which enables comments for RMA, manufacturing orders, logos/lines, BPM event types, BPM event occurrence records, vendors, and rules to be validated separately from lot comments. There are several options that you can enter for each comment type, including the print code that you want defaulted to each comment line and the Reference File category that will validate the print code.

Used to set up Comment Types for validation in the Comment Maintenance conversation.
The figure above shows the Comment Types screen for RMA comments. Notice that the default print code for RMA comments is '1.' This means that if you leave a print code off a line of comments, the print code for that line will default to 1. Also notice that the Print Code Category for RMA comments is G83. This means that when this window is called from RMA Maintenance or RMA Receipt Control, the Print Code field will be validated against Reference File category G83. Each entity that can have comments associated with it can have a separate Reference File category for print codes. Reference File category 027 allows you to validate each of the comment types separately.
Lot Comments
If you are entering lot comments, the Print Code field is not displayed and non-enterable. This is because the system lacks the logic to print lot comments from the Common Features Comments Master File (CF190M) onto documents such as sales orders, purchase orders, etc. You may still, however, use the Lot Master Maintenance Quality Control Specifications screen (IC155S01), which is accessed by pressing F5 from the Lot Detail screen (IC150S02), and associate one line of comments for each unique lot. This is accomplished by affiliating a print code with the comment line (fields LCCMNT and LCCMPR, respectively, on the Lot Master File (IC150M)). Refer to the figure below.
