Business Process Manager
The Business Process Manager (BPM) is a customizable work management tool that allows you to define business events and how they should be monitored, the specific users to be notified when those events occur, and a set of standard actions that can be taken to act upon those events.
The BPM provides a very flexible framework that can help you manage your work by performing the following functions:
· Monitor error conditions on which action should be taken (for example, manufacturing configuration errors) and notify the appropriate users online when they occur.
· Monitor exception conditions (for example, configuration changes or credit held sales orders).
· Automatically create electronic to-do lists by monitoring specific expected events (for example, purchase orders due today).
· Provide an online version of a standard MAC-PAC exception or error report (for example, matched invoices with price or quantity variances).
The features and functions of the Business Process Manager fall within the following areas:
· Event definition
· Event occurrence detection, extraction, and notification
· Event management

You can define events to be monitored by the BPM in the Event Maintenance conversation. This conversation allows you to setup the information about the events, including how often the BPM should check for occurrences of the event, the management options for each type of event, and who should be notified when a specific type of event occurs.
Event occurrence detection and extraction is performed by the Business Process Manager Asynchronous Monitor and its associated programs. The monitor runs at a user-defined interval and calls user-created extract programs that determine if BPM events have occurred. If an event occurrence is detected, the extract program retrieves information about the occurrence and routes it to the BPM mailboxes specified for that event type.
When an event occurs, you will receive notification on the MAC-PAC menu screens. You can then access the Event Manager to view information about the event that has occurred and chose one of the pre-defined actions to process the event.
