Shipping Proposals
Shipping Proposals
The Daily Batch program will analyze open offset releases and determine those that should be proposed for shipment. Open offset releases generated from a planned delivery request release, with the Ship/Planned Schedule field on the Endorsement Header Screen set to No, are not included in shipping proposals. Other planned and confirmed releases are proposed for shipment. This process takes into account the lead time for the part. When an offset release appears on a shipping proposal, it does not necessarily mean that it should be shipped today. In fact, if the part has preparation lead time associated with the part then the offset release will appear on the shipping proposal only has a statement of what should be prepared for shipment. The shipping schedule is the statement of what should be shipped today.
Consider the following example of an offset release with a preparation date of 12/18/96 and a ship date of 12/20/96. The part has been identified as needing two days to pick and pack before shipment. If the daily batch is run for 12/17/96, the offset release will be blocked (not modifiable) and printed on the shipping proposal. The dates on the top of the proposal form indicate that it should not be shipped until 12/20/96. The shipping schedule will not show the proposal, as it should not be shipped.
Note: If the offset releases, already printed on a proposal, are shipped before the shipping date, they will be treated as an advance to the customer in the next run of the daily batch.
Shipping proposals for Customer KANBAN orders are manually generated. For more information, see the Customer KANBAN key concept.
