Shipping List Life Cycle

·     Open:  the shipping list that is currently being prepared.

·     Frozen:  shipping lists that are prepared and ready for shipping.  This allows you to create a new shipping list for the same shipping proposal.

·     Shipped:  the shipment has been shipped and the inventory balances are updated.  A new invoice is printed and the invoice and dispatch advice messages are sent simultaneously.

You cannot change a shipped shipping list.  For a frozen shipping list, you can change the header information, but you cannot change the quantity.

Note:    A shipping proposal is only valid for the shipping date associated to it (which may include lead time).  At the end of the day, the shipping proposal is locked until the actual quantity shipped is summarized and compared to the proposed quantity, thus generating a delivery advance/backorder.  A new shipping proposal is then generated the next day reflecting the advance/backorder quantity.  It is impossible to create, freeze, or ship a shipping list associated to an out of date shipping proposal.  The process described above takes the advance/backorder quantity into account in the new shipping proposal.

For VDA processing, additional fields and controls have been added such as carrier name, transport number, ship reason code, and vehicle number.  The system uses these fields to generate the dispatch advice message and the shipping list report.
