Processing of Lock/Forward Shipments

The processing of the lock/forward shipments is a batch process executed daily.  It is one of the steps in the Daily Batch Process.  The lock/forward process compares, for each item/delivery point:

·     The quantity that should have been shipped on that particular day, enclosed in the out of date proposal shipments

·     The actual quantity shipped, calculated from the quantities on the shipped shipping lists.

The difference constitutes the delivery advance/backorder of the day for each item/delivery point relationship.

After lock/forward processing, it is impossible to access any shipping proposal whose shipping date is passed.

When the shipments have been prepared, but not shipped by the requested date, you can no longer ship them because they have been taken into account for the shipping proposals for the next day.

See the Synchronization Data Key Concepts in this overview for more information about the delivery advance/backorder quantities.
