Lot-Controlled Items in Synchro
Lot-controlled items in the Synchro module must use labels. This is to ensure that you can trace a lot. When you are adding an endorsement for a lot-controlled item, you must enter a 'Y' in the Used by default field on the Endorsement Delivery Data Screen (GA120S02), because the labels will be automatically created by the shipping proposal batch program.
The Synchro labels that are generated for lot-controlled items contain that item's lot number. When a shipping list is shipped, the inventory is decreased for the lots referenced on the labels linked to the shipping list.
You cannot modify the quantity totals for shipments of lot-controlled items when you are in maintaining a shipping list, because the quantities are listed on the labels. This is to ensure the completed quantity associated with the lot-controlled item's labels is shipped. The inventory is decreased by lot and stock location by storage point according to the labels linked to the shipping list.
When the shipping proposal contains a lot-controlled item, the system automatically generates the labels that reference the lots available in inventory by location. The lots are also sorted by FIFO date in agreement with the item quantity to be shipped. A lot or part of a lot reference on a label for a shipping proposal is considered as reserved. The system will not allocate it to another shipping proposal until the shipping proposal has been locked by Synchro when the shipping date is passed.
The labels generated will be automatically printed for lot-controlled items if there are lots available. Note, however, that lots can be placed on hold. If a lot is placed on hold, no inventory can be issued from it or received into it.
