Quotation Types

Quotation types are used to classify quotations and to facilitate their later comparison.  The quotation types that can be used are defined on a Reference File category.  One type is system defined; the rest are user defined.

The system-defined type corresponds to the main quotation.  Only one quotation per item/vendor relationship can be defined as the main quotation.  This type enables the system to draw the buyer's attention to a specific quotation during quotation inquiry.

The remaining user-defined types can be used however the user wishes; the system uses the quotation type only to differentiate the quotations and as a selection criteria for quotation inquiries.  No other processing is performed on this field.

The quotation type may be used as a selection criteria for quotation inquiry or report requests.  Thus, in defining quotation types, the user should consider how quotations will be used and what factors are important for differentiating between them.
