Serial Number Example: Return
Serial Number Example: Return
Your customer, World Cereal Corporation (WORLD), ordered and received a cereal shipment from you. The shipment contained Corn Crunch and Sugar Bombers, both serial controlled parts. Unfortunately, the World Cereal Corporation did not like the Sugar Bombers. They called to say they would be returning them for credit. You need to enter the RMA Maintenance conversation and issue them an RMA Number for the return (See the key concept on Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) in this manual). Once the cereal arrives at your warehouse, report its return in the RMA Receipt Control conversation.
If you use the Postbilling & Memo Entry to record the customer credit memo and the inventory adjustment necessary for this return, enter the serial numbers for the returned Sugar Bombers there. The Serial Number Assignment Window will automatically display in Postbilling. If you use other conversations to report the customer credit memo and inventory adjustment, enter the serial number for the returned Sugar Bombers in RMA Receipt Control. There is no need to enter the serial numbers in both Postbilling and RMA Receipt Control. To get the Serial Number Assignment Window from RMA Receipt Control, you must request it. Press F21 = Serial Numbers from the Line Detail screen (OP215S04) or enter an 'S' in the Select field on the Multi-Line screen (OP215S03).
