Other Pricing Considerations
There are two types of items that do not get priced using the pricing methods in this key concept: configured items and bundled items. Additionally, pricing calculations are also effected by whether you operate in a single or multi-currency environment. The following discussion should highlight some of the processing considerations for these situations.
Pricing Configured Orders
If you have installed the Expert Configurator module, you may order configured parts. A configured part can be ordered, priced, and manufactured according to features and options chosen at sales order entry time using rules defined in the Expert Configurator module.
If pricing rules for the part are defined in the Expert Configurator module, the base price is calculated dynamically and returned to the Sales Order Maintenance or Quote Order Maintenance conversations (on the Line Entry screens). At the same time, all applicable discounts are applied to the line in order to calculate the unit price. For more information about pricing rules used for configured items, see the Expert Configurator User Manual.
Bundle Pricing
A bundle is a collection of parts grouped together for selling purposes. Bundle components are the parts that constitute the bundle. When a bundle is ordered in sales order entry, a line is created for the bundle part. For more detailed information on how bundled items are processed, refer to the Item Information key concept in this manual.
The price of a bundle is the sum of the component prices on the Bundle Master file. The bundle price overrides the component's price list or warehouse balance price for all bundle sales. The bundle unit price may be entered on the sales order multi-line screen. The components are priced using pro rata pricing. With pro rata pricing, each component price is a percentage of the entered unit or extended price, the percentage being directly proportional to the component price on the Bundle Master file.
Note: Due to the unique pricing structure for bundle items, discounts cannot be applied against bundled line items.
Operating in Multi-Currency Environments
If the sales/quote order is priced in a foreign currency, prices that are automatically calculated (contract prices or warehouse balance prices) will be converted to the foreign currency. Price list prices do not require conversion because they are defined for specific currencies, Manually entered prices are assumed to be in the foreign currency, and therefore will be converted to the selling company's base currency for accounting transactions.
If an item is sourced out of another warehouse, and if that warehouse is associated with a different base currency, prices will be converted to the base currency of the selling company/warehouse for accounting transactions and to the currency of the sales order for calculating the total charge to the customer.
