Picker Release by Promise Ship Date

Standard order lead time is the number of days required to process an order from the time a picker is printed to the time the order is physically shipped from the warehouse.  It is used in conjunction with the "release on promised ship date."

Normal release and Release on Promised Ship Date shipping documents are printed during off-line processing.  Determining when an order will be released for picking based on promised ship date consists of two steps:

1.   The system calculates the promised shipment date based on two other dates:  the required ship date and the earliest possible shipping date.  See the Order Information key concept for detailed calculations for all three dates.

2.   The standard order lead time on the Warehouse Description file record is subtracted from the promised ship date and compared to the system's current date.  If the result is less than or equal to the system date (time to promised ship date is less than or equal to the lead time), a flag is set causing the picker document to be produced and the order to be released.

The following example shows how to calculate the lead time required before an order is picked.  In this example.  The picking lead time is set at 4 days.
