Configured Parts
Clients with the Expert Configurator module installed may order configured parts.
A configured part can be ordered, priced, and manufactured according to features and options chosen at sales order entry time using rules defined in the Expert Configurator module. Entry of a configured part in Quote Order Maintenance is also supported; however, manufacturing configuration can only be initiated by a sales order. So, a quote must be converted into a sales order for manufacturing configuration to take place.
To order a configured part:
· Valid rules must exist for the part in the Expert Configurator module.
· Enter the order number, bill-to and ship-to customer numbers, company/warehouse number on the Sales Order Maintenance Function Select screen or the Quote Order Maintenance Function Select screen.
· Enter the part number and quantity on the Sales Order Maintenance Single Line Entry screen or the Quote Order Maintenance Single Line Entry screen.
· If the transaction is valid, the user-defined option select screens are displayed. Select the options for the part.
· If pricing rules for the part are defined in the Expert Configurator module, the price is calculated dynamically and returned to the Sales Order Maintenance Single Line Entry screen or the Quote Order Maintenance Single Line Entry screen.
The user-defined option select screen is not displayed for non-configured parts. See the Expert Configurator User Manual for more information about sales order entry and pricing rules.
If you enter a part with a configuration code associated with it, then the following processing occurs:
· Valid rules must exist for the part in the Expert Configurator module.
· Enter the order number, bill-to and ship-to customer numbers, company/warehouse number on the Sales Order Maintenance Function Select screen or the Quote Order Maintenance Function Select screen. You must also change the Configure Order field to 'Y' (yes) to specify that this part is a configured part.
· Enter the part number and quantity on the Sales Order Maintenance Single Line Entry screen or the Quote Order Maintenance Single Line Entry screen.
· If the transaction is valid, the user-defined option select screens are displayed. The most recent options for that configuration code will be defaulted from the most recent order with that same configuration code. You may change these options if you wish.
To default options for a configured order, use the following four methods:
1. Enter a customer item number that is associated with a configuration code.
2. Manually enter a configuration code.
3. Use the F8 - Copy Order command key.
4. Use the F19 - Copy Options command key
Note: 1 and 2 use the most recent options for the configuration code entered. 3 and 4 actually use option records for the sales order line selected.
In sales order entry, if you use the Copy Options function (F19) on the Configuration Code field, the Sales Order Line List window is displayed. You can select any of these orders and the options will be defaulted from the line that you are copying from to the Component Selection Options screen in the Expert Configurator.
In sales order entry, if you use the Order Copy function (F8), you will have two options. You can choose to display your options, going through the Expert Configurator, and these options will default in from the sales order line you are copying. If you chose not to display your options, then they will be copied over going through the Expert Configurator but not displaying any of the screens. A flag on the single line screen allows you to specify a 'Y' or 'N' in the Display Options field.
