Lot Control
Lot Control
Both billing conversations allow input of a lot number for each part shipped that is under lot control. The Order Processing application requires input of a lot number for each part shipped that is under lot control. If an item has lot assignability, lots to be reserved are specified during sales order entry.
During system installation, a parameter is set to indicate whether a lot-control environment is present. If a lot-control environment exists, each part can be classified as being lot controlled, not lot controlled, or lot controlled with lot assignability.
If a part is lot controlled, a lot number must be entered when the line containing the part is shipped. If a part also has lot assignability, one or more lots can be specified during sales order entry for reservation. The reserved lots are brought into the shipping conversation as defaults. Note, however, that lots can be placed on hold (through the Lot Control Maintenance conversation (IC150E)). If a lot is placed on hold, no inventory can be issued from it or received into it. Lots on hold are displayed in reverse image in various inquiries in the system, and a warning message is also displayed.
Considerations
All lot-controlled parts must be shipped line-by-line. Once all lot-controlled parts have been individually shipped, the "Ship Complete" command key can be used in the Open Order Shipping and Billing conversation to ship the remaining lines using the default stock location and release quantity.
In a lot assignability environment, the reserved lots are pre-filled into the shipping lines, so a "Ship Complete" will ship all reserved lots.
