Finalize Price Rule
A labor requirement rule results in the generation of a labor requirement for a manufacturing order.

Action Expression 1
Description: Operation number, operation line number, and the comment number used to identify the operation to be selected for the manufacturing order.

Note: The operation number, operation line number, and the comment number must exist on the routing that is used for the configured part. The routing used is either the configured part's routing or the rule-based routing part's routing. If a non-zero line or comment number is issued, the zero line or comment number must also be issued. For example, if 010 00 01 is issued, 010 00 00 must be issued. Similarly, if 010 10 10 is issued, both 010 00 00 and 010 10 00 must be issued.
Action Expression 2
Description The piece rate for standard operations or the fixed time load for fixed operations. The piece rate will be either the number of pieces made per hour or the number of hours required to manufacture a piece depending on the system-wide standard. Number of hours will be labor hours (for a labor-paced workcenter) or machine hours (for a machine-paced workcenter).

Add a Labor Requirement Rule
1. Display the Manufacturing Rule Maintenance Function Select screen.
a. Select the Expert Configurator option from the System Application Menu.
b. Select the Manufacturing Rule Maintenance option from the Expert Configurator Application Menu to display the select screen.
2. Enter the Function Select information.
a. Assign a unique number to the rule.
b. Enter the action code for a labor requirement rule in the Action Code field. Action codes are defined in category Y03 on the Reference File.
c. Press the Enter key to display the header screen.
3. Enter the header information. See the Standard Rules Header screen (EC100S03) in the Screens section of this manual for more information.
4. Press the Enter key to display the detail screen.
5. Enter the detail information.
a. Enter the condition statement. (Optional)
The condition determines if the rule result is true or false. If the condition expression is interpreted as true, the action expressions are processed. Rules are released based on the result of the condition. If no condition is entered, the condition is interpreted as true. Many labor requirement rules will have identical conditions because they will depend only on the fact that the item has been ordered. In this case, the most efficient route is to define a condition rule. Make this condition rule the releasing rule for all labor requirement rules that don't have special circumstances such as add-on pieces to the main part and special options. The condition rule that would release the labor requirement rules does not need to have a condition statement: It will automatically be interpreted as true, and the labor requirement rules will be released. If a condition rule with no condition statement already exists, it can be used as the releasing rule.
b. Enter the operation number/line number and comment number (within quotation marks). (Required)
This field is interpreted by the Expert Configurator and must be in correct syntax.
c. Enter the piece rate or fixed time load. (Required)
This field specifies the piece rate for standard operations or the fixed time load for fixed time operations. This field is interpreted by the Expert Configurator and must be in correct syntax. If the time is straightforward, enter the number. For example if 40 hours are required to build a desk, enter 40. If the piece rate is dependent upon an option or combination of options, the expression must be in correct syntax. For example, a luxury model desk requires 20 additional hours to build. Instead of creating a separate labor requirement rule for luxury model desks, the piece rate field may contain a quantity with calculations in it. For example, the expression to be entered in this case would be (40,+,(20,IF,(O-LUXURY,EQ,"Y"))). Forty hours are required, plus an extra 20 if a Y (yes) was entered in the luxury option field on the user-defined option select screen. Although this example shows hours per piece, pieces per hour may also be used, depending on the system-wide default chosen.
Change a Labor Requirements Rule
1. Select the Manufacturing Rule Maintenance option from the Expert Configurator Application Menu to display the select screen.
2. On the Rule Maintenance Function Select screen:
a. Enter the labor requirements rule number in the Rule Number field.
b. Enter a 2 in the Maintenance Code field to change the header information for the rule. Enter a 3 in the Maintenance Code field to change the detail information for the rule.
3. Change the descriptive data for the rule and press the Enter key.
4. If all fields are valid, the rule is changed on the Rule Master File.
Reactivate or Deactivate a Labor Requirements Rule
1. Select the Manufacturing Rule Maintenance option from the Expert Configurator Application Menu to display the select screen.
2. On the Rule Maintenance Function Select screen:
a. Enter the labor requirements rule number in the Rule Number field. All rules released by this rule must be deactivated before this rule can be deactivated.
b. Enter a 4 in the Maintenance Code field to deactivate the rule. Enter a 5 in the Maintenance Code field to reactivate the rule.
3. Press the Enter key to deactivate or reactivate the rule.
4. Press F3 to exit without deactivating or reactivating the rule.
