Part Definition

All parts and components used by the Expert Configurator must be defined on the Part Master File in the Design Engineering module.  In our example, we want to define our desk as a configured part.  Through the Part Master Maintenance Conversation, we enter the necessary information for our part, DESK-001.  On the configuration screen, we specify the part as configured and also specify what types of rules we want to utilize. DESK-001 is a standard costed item so we enter a Configuration Code Option of '0'.  For our example, we define the desk to have all rules (sales order entry, pricing, and manufacturing) valid.  See the figure below for a sample of the configuration screen in the Part Master Maintenance conversation.
