Maintaining Reference File Categories

Reference File categories contain user-defined data such as codes and decodes, processing options, and default values.  There are two types of categories:  required categories, which must exist for the system to function properly, and optional categories, which must exist only if certain features of the software will be used.

A list of all required and optional categories for the Electronic Data Interchange application can be found in the Cross Reference Section of the Electronic Data Interchange Program Documentation Manual.  Before you can run the Electronic Data Interchange application, you must maintain all of the required categories, plus any of the optional categories you will be using.  See the Common Features User Manual for procedures on maintaining Reference File categories.  Detailed validation information on all categories can be found in the Common Features Reference File Categories Manual.
