External Information Requirements
EDI refers to the electronic exchange of standardized business documents between trading partners. In order to use EDI technology, you should agree with your trading partners about the data that will be sent in the exchange. Furthermore, the information shared between trading partners should be both sent and received in a standard format.
Once received into MAC-PAC, the transactions track information that refers to the original sender. These fields, identified as "External", are located on several screens and reports. External information is information used for EDI purchasing transactions and refers to the information used by the original sender to identify you (as a customer). External information is defined in the Vendor Master Maintenance conversation.
